Kosinski and Thiagaraj, LLP is excited to announce our newest Legal Assistant, Sophia Faaland. They recently graduated from UC Berkeley with a degree in history. During their time at UC Berkeley, Sophia spent a semester conducting research on the material culture of Mycenaean society at the Nemea Center for Classical Archaeology. Sophia was then awarded the J.K. Anderston Travel Award for archaeological research in Greece. Later on, Sophia conducted research on Greek Orthodox communities in the late Ottoman Empire at the Istanpolis Collective. Sophia also worked for the Oral History Center at UC Berkeley as a student editor, contributing two blog posts on Freedom Summer and the Ethnic Studies program at UC Berkeley through the lens of memory. Sophia currently volunteers as an intake coordinator for the Alameda County Bar Association’s Community Legal Access Saturday Program (CLASP) and as a researcher for the Pollen Initiative.
Sophia is from Alameda, California and now lives in Oakland. In their free time, Sophia enjoys playing ultimate frisbee and hiking.
